Quit Smoking Using Hypnosis

Who ever said hypnosis doesn’t work? Hypnosis is an amazing alternative way to program yourself to stop smoking and or whatever it is that you want to achieve. Recently there has been a lot of interest shown in hypnosis and hypnotherapy. More and more people are getting to know about it and want to know more about hypnosis and how it can help improve their lives.

How much do you know about hypnosis? For the sake of everyone that will be reading this content let’s start at the very beginning. Let’s begin with explaining what hypnosis is.

Hypnosis comes from the latin word Hypnose which means “sleep”. Hypnosis is “a trance-like state that resembles sleep but is induced by a person whose suggestions are readily accepted by the subject of the hypnosis.”

Let me explain this a little further to make things clear about what happens when you use hypnosis. For the sake of the subject on hand which is; quitting smoking, this will be the main example used. Let’s say you want to quit smoking and decide you want to give hypnosis a try.

You visit a hypno-therapist or you buy a guided hypnosis audio cd or maybe even try self hypnosis. What happens at first is you will be guided into a state of extreme relaxation almost like sleep . In this state of relaxation your brainwave activity slows down.

Like invisible radio waves we humans emit invisible waves at a certain frequency depending on whatever state of mind we are in. When in a state of relaxation your brain waves slow down. If it slows down to the same level as that of the earth’s frequency which is known as the Schuman resonance you will experience extreme relaxation and calm. This Schuman resonance used to be at around 7.83 Hertz, but has risen in recent years.

When your brain frequency matches that of the earth’s frequency you begin to feel tingles all over your hands, arms, body and legs. When your brain enters this state of calm which is on the edge of being awake and asleep, you become open to positive suggestions.

Did you know that when you sleep your level of immunity goes up. This is because your brain automatically drops it’s frequency to levels that are in harmony with that of the earth’s and your body switches into healing mode using all the energy it is receiving from the earth.

If you meditate or try hypnosis and get to this level of relaxation you can easily feel what I’m talking about for yourself, you instantly know it is benefiting you in some way or another. To quit smoking using hypnosis, what happens is you are guided into this state of relaxation where your concious mind is put to sleep and your unconcious mind is hyper attentive and open to suggestion.

The hypnotist then suggests that you stop liking cigarettes, you enjoy living healthy, you know nicotine is poison so you stay away from it and depending on how relaxed you are the more effective it is.

It is the exact same thing as using affirmations where you affirm yourself with statements such as “I will succeed in quiting smoking”, the only difference with hypnosis is you do this in the relaxed state I spoke of above and this makes the affirmation easier for you to pass as a real fact in your life. The reason it becomes easier is best explained using an example. Let us say you are trying to convince yourself of the following affirmation:

“I am now a non smoker” however you still smoke. In your current state of wakefulness, your conscious mind disagrees because you know this is not true, however in the relaxed state which is as mentioned earlier is on the verge of sleep, your conscious mind is asleep and so it easily passes as fact into your life without you consciously questioning it in any way.

Our understanding of hypnosis has advanced a great deal in the past century, but the phenomenon is still a mystery of sorts but it definitely works. I use hypnosis all the time to improve in different parts of my life. I have purchased the rights to a quit smoking hypnosis audio session and have made it available in the stop smoking aids page. It’s supposed to be very effective, I would love your feedback, just a comment on that page would do.

Then again if you feel like investing in the best quit smoking hypnosis session there is available, then this session is worth it’s weight in gold, especially if you have been struggling to quit smoking. After listening to this hypnosis session you will be able to increase your chance of quitting cold turkey by 66%. I highly recommend you check out “The Non Smokers Edge“. It’s actual price is at $149, but is currently on sale for $99, so act on it while it is available at this discounted price. The best part however is not the price but the fact that you will quit smoking easily and if you don’t, you have a whole year to claim your money back so go ahead and check it out you have nothing to lose.

Why Do Teens Smoke?

Smoking kills about 400,000 Americans every year, 47 million people in the U.S still smoke cigarettes and 9/10 started smoking before the age of 18! Here is the question to be asking, if 9/10 of the 47 million smokers in the U.S started before the age of 18 then obviously tobacco companies are targeting young teens and their marketing is definitely working, but how exactly?

Movie characters that smoke are the biggest influence on teens. Think about this for a second, didn’t you at one point think it was cool to smoke? I know I did! At one point I thought it was so cool to smoke that I would only smoke when around people, be it friends or strangers. I would not even think about smoking for days unless I wanted to “Be cool!”, it was my only reason for smoking yet it was all in vain.

Have you watched the movie Blood Diamond? How well is Leonardo Dicaprio’s acting in that movie and how “Cool” does he making smoking look? If you haven’t seen this movie, you must watch it to know what “Smoking ads” in movies look like. Its a great example.

In movies, character’s that smoke portray smoking as “Cool” and “Mature”. This is where teens mainly get influenced. Then what happens after a teenager starts smoking is, they go to their friends and invite them to “being cool”. Teens who have been exposed to a lot of smoking in movies and within a family environment will be more likely to give in to peer pressure.

A recent survey was done by the American Association of Pediatrics to determine exposure to movie smoking in a representative sample of young US adolescents. Their results come as no surprise.

“The 534 movies that were used in the study were mainly rated PG-13 and R. Seventy four percent contained smoking (3830 total smoking occurrences). On average, each movie was seen by 25% of the adolescents surveyed. Viewer ship was higher with increased age and lower for R-rated movies.

Overall, these movies delivered 13.9 billion gross smoking impressions, an average of 665 to each US adolescent aged 10–14 years. Thirty popular movies each delivered 100 million gross smoking impressions. Thirty actors each delivered 50 million smoking impressions, such that just 1.5% of actors delivered one quarter of all character smoking to the adolescent sample.” Read the full article about the study.

Another study at the university of California shows that kids who see a lot of smoking in movies are three times more likely to start smoking than kids who are not exposed to smoking in movies.

Since tobacco companies are not allowed to advertise their products, they have opted for what one can refer to as “Silent but deadly” means by using movie characters that smoke. What better way to advertise smoking to kids and make sure the message gets across.

Movies are a powerful force. It can have such a powerful effect on kids that even good parenting can still not undo the effects. 52% of youth who start smoking are mostly influenced by the movies. These stats speak for themselves, the youth are being targeted no doubt, and it is being done in very subtle ways.

Why Family Support Can Help Smokers Quit Smoking

Family support is crucial when it comes to quitting smoking especially if other family members are smokers themselves. To the non smoker reading this; in order to understand this better you have to put yourself in the shoes of a smoker who wants to quit. They usually are firm about their decision to quit, they do want to quit, but with cigarettes, ashtrays and lighters lying around it will be that much more difficult to do so.

Nicotine is an addiction, family support is like a ticket to quit smoking. Imagine this scenario, a now non smoker is surrounded by encouraging family members who use strong encouraging words to mentally support the now “x-smoker” and reward them on their achievements. The x-smoker when alone at one point in their effort to break free from smoking, will be faced with a situation where they will be tempted to have just one puff.

This one puff usually means back to becoming a smoker. During this tempting situation, the x-smoker will think of all the people who have encouraged and supported them. They will think of the efforts the family went through to reward this individual. When this happens, and in a do or die situation like this, the x-smoker will refuse and at this point they have so much confidence in themselves you can call them non-smokers.

The most important factor here is that the family shows love and care for the smoking individual. That’s all a smoker needs, just to know that there is someone who cares about them. The simple thought of letting these loved ones down will be enough to tackle any tempting situation in the future. This is why family support is so important in helping an individual quit smoking, it’s a guaranteed way to get a smoker to quit and stay quits.

Also a note to individuals who want to help someone quit, don’t bug them that they should quit. One thing you need to avoid is getting them upset and make them smoke more. Your part is to remind them that you care for them, and that you would be so much more pleased if they stopped. Show some love. Once they do decide to quit be encouraging and supportive.

If your a smoker, by now you should know that this is one of the best ways to quit smoking, so don’t be afraid to ask your family members for help and support, it makes you the wiser one. The following book is a great read. It will help you create a rich family environment and deepen the relationships you have with your loved ones, check it out…
